Spring has finally arrived! The snow was a ton of fun, but it is really nice to have some warmer weather. Now that it is starting to get warmer, we are able to bring more activities and work outside. We’ve retired snowsuits for bikes, slides and balls!
The children planted some tulips back in November and they have started to come up!
St. Patrick’s Day
The children really enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day. We talked about the holiday and where it came from, read some books, and tried to master the Irish jig. Many of the children dressed in green to help celebrate the festivities.
We had fun painting shamrocks and we had previously made green playdough to get even more in the spirit of things.
We also had a chance to make a few leprechaun hats!
After gluing our decorations on our hats, we needed to show them off!
Mallet and Tee
A favorite activity for the children is the mallet and tee. This activity incorporates golf tees, a mallet, and modeling clay.
The child takes the tees and places them on the modeling clay and hammers the tees in.
To pull the tees out of the modeling clay, the child needs to wiggle the tee and work it out. This exercises their arm muscles and their fingers.
After, the child smooths the clay all back so there are no holes, making the top smooth and ready for the next use. The child then takes the work and puts it back on the shelf.
We are looking forward to being outside more, soaking up the sunshine, watching the geese, planting more flowers, and going on nature walks around the school.
