It’s been a wonderful summer for me working at our camp. The students truly had a great time exploring, learning, creating and enjoying themselves with all the summer activities. Now I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and welcoming our new students to a terrific school year. I hope all of you too had a fantastic summer and I looking forward in hearing about all of the children’s summer adventures.
I want to personally welcome the new students and their parents Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Ottolini. I hope all of you get the chance to welcome them as well at our up coming events – orientation night for new parents, parent education night for all parents and our September social.
Just a few reminders, please refer to your parent handbook frequently for you can find most answers to you questions and concerns in there. However, please feel free to email me anytime and I will try to return an email or phone call either before or after school. Please be sure that your child has an extra set of clothes when they come the first day of school. We will be working with water frequently throughout the year and do not want the children to be sitting in wet clothes all day. If clothing is sent home please return a new set the very next day, we can not provide clothes for your child if needed. The children will also be gardening so if they have boots that they can leave a school this will be most helpful. Also, please be sure that your child’s name is clearly labeled on everything.
We are currently looking for two room parents to help out throughout the year with our holiday celebrations. If you are interested please call me as soon as possible for we will be starting to prepare for our Fall Fest events within a few weeks.
We will be starting up our classroom snack calendars on Sept 15 so please be on top of this , the children truly look forward to their special snack day and taking on this responsibility in class. We currently have 17 students this year, so please be sure you bring enough snack for everyone, but keep in mind that this is only a snack and not a feast. We are a “Peanut Free” school so please keep this in mind went buying snack from stores and please read labels often. For those students who just can’t live without peanut butter, I highly recommend trying “WOW” butter for it smells and tastes just like peanut butter but is a soybean product and can be purchased at Giant grocery stores.
For all of the students at school we will once again be sending out the Scholastic book orders to give everyone the opportunity to purchase wonderful books for your children. I do however have one request that you send in a separate check written to Scholastic Reading Club for every order you send in. Sometimes these orders do not arrive back at school for a few weeks so please keep that in mind if ordering for special occasions like birthdays, it will take some time.
This year the children will be bringing home their school work in special folders, we request that you return them the very next school day so that the children can continue to keep their cubbies as neat as possible as part of their on going efforts of developing their responsibilities in the classroom. One suggestion that has helped a few parents with this chore is to have a home cubby near the front door where everyone can place items to come back to school.
I have been working very hard in preparing the classroom for the children and am very excited in starting the year.
