I would like to welcome all of you to a new and exciting school year. Your children are all very unique and special and I look forward to guiding them through their early years in a Montessori primary class here at Valley Forge Kinder House.
For those of you who do not yet know me, let me give you a little background information. I was introduced to Valley Forge Kinder House Montessori School during the summer of 1980. At the time I was in tenth grade and lived in Nebraska, but was visiting my father for the summer and my little brother who is fifteen years younger than me was attending the school’s camp. The next year I was invited to work as a summer camp counselor assistant. And, well, I was completely hooked on wanting to be a Montessori teacher/guide. After finishing high school in Nebraska I attended West Chester University o f Pa. for my Early Childhood Degree and then also attended Washington Montessori Institute for my Montessori training. I started teaching my own class with the school and have been with them ever since. This will be my twenty-eighth year of teaching and I hope to be working for the school for a long time.
I would like to welcome and introduce all of you to our new students this year. I hope all of you get the chance to meet them at one of our school events like the up coming Parent-Night or Social. Our new families are Mr. and Mrs. Mahadevan and their son Siddhant, Mr. and Mrs. Harbach and their son Gabriel, Mr. and Mrs. Grainer and their son Benjamin, Mr. and Mrs. Dunjwa and their daughter Nolitha and last Mr. and Mrs. Alexander and their daughter Tanisha (who is Tejas’ little sister).
The snack calendar is on the website, and starts as of Sept. 21th. The calendar is in alphabetical order so please keep an eye out for child’s scheduled two days. We have a total of twenty four students and ask that you send in enough snack for everyone. Snack is just a small treat for the students to hold them over until lunch, we do not need large serving. Please refer to you Parent Handbook for other information about snack time. We will celebrate birthdays throughout the year. If your child’s birthday lands during the summer months, please let me know if you would still like to celebrate this special day and we can make an end of the year celebration as well.
We are currently looking for one or two classroom parents who would be interested in helping out our class with holiday celebrations such as our Fall Fest, Christmas party, Valentine Party and Easter holiday activities. If you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible. There will be other events throughout the year in which we will also be needing volunteers, so please read your Parent Handbook to be more informed.
If at anytime you have any concerns or questions about your child, please feel free to email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. We can also set up a personal phone call if you feel more comfortable using that method. If you have any daily messages that you need me to know about such a a change in your child’s schedule or someone else picking up your child, please write them in the Parent Message book/clipboard out at the gate.
I’m very excited about this year and, from want I have already been observing in the classroom, the children are too.
