Last year, Hugo’s mom came to visit our Primary classroom to play the violin for us. She also explained how it works and the materials it is made of.
This year she came back to play the violin again, but this time, Hugo played the viola with her! It is very interesting because the viola looks very similar to violin but it creates a lower range of notes. Hugo’s instrument prompted everybody to ask questions because his is a much smaller instrument fit for his size. He just started a few months ago so he has additional pieces attached to his viola to help him develop bow and finger skills. As he practices these items will be removed.
Hugo and his mom got everybody to participate by clapping rhythms as she and Hugo played the popular tune “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” to these rhythms. That really roused up the crowd. They all loved it.
We are all so proud of Hugo who set his shyness aside and let his talent shine to all his friends. This mini-concert definitely inspired his classmates to learn a new musical instrument.
