The children have been working on a variety of activities in the classroom. They are very excited about Valentines’ Day and have been busily making their decorative bags to carry their valentines. We have been talking about the world and how other children throughout the world celebrate different holidays and what their daily lives are like. Many of the children have been working on their writing skills such as like the simple steps of grasping a pencil or crayon which takes great skill using their ability to use the proper finger pressure, control of error and holding the writing tools. These skills are aided by grasping all of the knobs on the various materials especially those in the Sensorial area, Metal Insets and the Geography maps in the classroom. Of course the older students are also focusing on these same skills but their focus is more on the concept of control of error when writing between lines and connecting letters together to make words and even stories. The afternoon students have recently been wondering how the rain and snow can affect the way people have to live their lives on a daily basis especially if we have too much rain or snow.
