Our Philly trip to the historical areas of Philadelphia always starts with an exciting bus trip to both school locations. For some of the children this is their first experience riding on a school bus, and of course it was a lot of fun with many happy faces. Once the children arrived at the National Constitution Center they watched the program “Freedom Rising,” which is a very exciting history lessons on how our country came to be. Then the children toured part of the center and explored Signer’s Hall. There they saw statues of each signer of the Constitution, as well as sign their name. The children were invited to be a part of a program for “Growing Up in America” in which the children had an opportunity to try on clothes and play games of that time period. We then had lunch outside in the gardens and walked over to see the Liberty Bell before leaving for the day. The children have truly grasped a better understanding of how important children were in the making of our country and our future.
