Can you believe that spring is on its way! The children enjoyed their trip to the nature center and learning about Maple Sugaring. Each student had the opportunity to taste the difference between real maple syrup and what we often think is maple syrup such as Aunt Jemima or Log Cabin. Each sample actually tasted delicious but most of the children enjoyed the real stuff instead. I wanted to share with all of you that once we returned to school the students rediscovered all of our sensory activities in the classroom especially those activities that involved tasting and smelling. This a great opportunity to enhance these same kinds of activities at home by letting the children discover for themselves what other kinds of food they like or dislike by tasting and/or smelling them and finding out why they liked or disliked them. Why don’t you try for example, different kinds of apples.
