Lately when the students have been arriving at school each day, they are often distracted by the sounds of the geese in our pond. One day in particular, two of our youngest students wanted to know what was making all of those sounds, so we took a short class trip to visit the pond ( from our playground area). As the children observed these wonderful birds many questions started to arise as to why the geese were here and how they got here. So we had a wonderful discussion about migration. We also talked about other animals and how they travel around the world. Did you know that the Arctic Tern flies from the top of the world to the bottom of the world and back again every year? If you would like to know more about this then please just ask the children! Also you can read from the simple reader “Amazing Journey” by Discovery Readers or about “Humphrey the Whale” who accidentally migrated himself to the San Francisco.
