Today was a special day for us as the children expressed their care and love for each other. I have to admit that every day in our class care and love are expressed! Today the children exchanged their Valentine’s cards and we had a special snack provided by Hunter Emery (who’s birthday was today).
Our snacks and birthday celebrations are a very special part of our class. Each child is so excited when they get to provide snack for the class. That child gets to prepare his snack and set up the snack table. He also can choose a friend and have snack first! As you are aware, we try to provide the children with healthy choices here at school and appreciate the healthy and thoughtful snacks that have been brought in by the children: fruit, vegetables with humus or dip, healthy chesses and crackers or granola bars, healthy muffins, raisins, etc. For birthdays, we also ask that the birthday treat follow with healthy cookies or muffins. One child recently brought in soft pretzels that spelled out her name. The children loved it! It’s important to keep our foods simple and healthy for the benefit of the children. We ask that cupcakes or cookies with frosting not be brought for birthdays or snack. Today for Valentine’s Day, we will be having homemade cookies (with no icing) along with strawberries. I hope you had a wonderful, loving and happy Valentine’s Day!
