The Graduates of VFKH, Ben and Lucas, went with me to Philadelphia last Friday for a wonderful exploration of Historic Philadelphia. First, we saw “Freedom Rising” with the MUPs at the National Constitution Center. Then we toured the Constitution Center and the boys signed the Constitution in a room full of statues of each of the signers. Next, we enjoyed a scavenger hunt of Old City, answering questions about the buildings and the people who lived during the time of the American Revolution. The program for this scavenger hunt is called “Stray Boots” and the boys would be given a clue, go to the building or area where they were directed, and answer a fact about the area they were in. They went to Independence Mall, the Liberty Bell, Carpenter’s Hall, the statue of “The Signer”, Ben Franklin’s Post Office, the Bourse Building, and more! It was a wonderful experience for the boys and a great way to wrap up their elementary years at VFKH!
