Today we celebrated Diwali, which is known as the festival of lights, one of the most important Hindu festivals of the year. We want to thank the mothers who celebrated their holiday with the children by telling the children the meaning of Diwali, setting up a table using Diyas (small clay pots that were lit with candles), sang songs while the children shared the responsibility of ringing the bells, and gave the children special food (fruit) treats to eat. We also went outside where the students watch the adults while they lit sparklers and waved them around until the lights went out. It was a grand celebration and we thank all of the mothers who came!
