We had a delightful early school year in the Elementary classroom with returning students re-adjusting to working directly with the Lead Guide in-person after a year of distance learning and our first-year friends becoming acclimated to the unique character of the Montessori Elementary program.
We are privileged to welcome Mrs. Paseltiner back as Assistant Guide. She brings a sense of continuity with the legacy of our program as well as enthusiasm, energy, and lots of fun ideas! Mrs. Broom has also added to the excitement of our school year by helping all of the students with reading.
Exploring Fall and a Fun Visit to the Library
Our lovely fall weather this year allowed us to explore outside to discover the land, water, and air that make up the earth and the many types of leaves that can be found in our Phoenixville neighborhood. One of the most fun outings was to the Phoenixville Public Library, where the children’s librarian, Mrs. Krause, took us on a tour of the historic building which is the only Carnegie Library in Chester County. Mrs. Krause also took great care to help each of us find the types of books that interest us. Now, we all know our way around the Children’s Library and the Young Adult Library and look forward to regularly visiting!
Developing Skills in Planning and Organization
Indoors, we are gaining skills in planning, organization, and cooperation including daily and weekly routines, assigned roles that help our classroom run smoothly, taking responsibility for our own personal spaces, and learning to use planning and recording tools to keep track of our work. One of our long-term projects is researching what type of animal will make an ideal classroom pet. Making new friends and learning new songs, games, and skills made this fall productive and enjoyable for all!
It was wonderful to meet so many of our parents at the September Social and the Parent Back-to-School Night. I am happily committed to communicating with you, especially if you have a particular need, concern, or idea. I look forward to calling upon our wonderful parents when we have a need for special projects, field trips, or going out. Parents can let me know what areas of expertise, hobbies, and passions they have! We value including parent offers in the children’s overall program. We all work together to give your children the best possible elementary experience!
