This year’s elementary class is focusing on caring for our own elementary environment, getting to know the great big world outside of it, and establishing our work ethic to prepare ourselves to serve in that world. We are encouraging the 6-12-year-olds to learn the expectations that our culture has for them, thinking about why those expectations (such as state standards for academic content and progress) are important, and how we can work together to become prepared to meet the demands of the world beyond elementary school. This is truly a pivotal time in our children’s lives!
Volunteer Opportunities
We are asking families to step up in support and volunteer roles. We will need your help with planning and executing our school events. Do you have a special cultural tradition that you would like to share? Or maybe a skill or talent? We’ll need chaperones and transportation help for field trips and goings out. Maybe you would like to share in special projects, such as a play or performance, cooking or baking, or simple carpentry to fill needs for classroom materials. Would you like to bless our children with the imprint of your green thumb? Or share with our students your trade, profession, or hobby? Let us know and complete the Parent Volunteer information on the VFKH website so you are ready to serve when we have a need.
As always, let’s keep in close touch. Take advantage of school events such as Coffee with Bernadette and Parent-Teacher Conferences to learn all that you can about your child’s school experience and use my email, [email protected], to communicate your comments and questions. Join me in raising a hearty cheer for a positive and profitable 2022-23 school year at VFKH!
