The past few weeks we have been talking about the various holidays that are celebrated throughout the world. Some of these include “Hanukkah”, “The first Christmas and the Nativity”, “Saint Nicholas and how Santa Claus came from St. Nicholas”, “Christmas Traditions and what country they originated from such as Christmas cards, Christmas presents, Christmas trees, Christmas pudding and even Boxing Day”. I would like to suggest four books to share with you that your child already has heard about in class. “Silver Packages” by Cynthia Rylant which is a story about giving to others, “The Christmas Box” by Jo Anna Stewart Wetzel which is a story about a family having to celebrate Christmas away from their father who is in the military service, “The Town that forgot about Christmas” adapted by Susan K. Leigh which is a story about what one person thinks Christmas is really is about and “The Usborne Christmas Treasury” which is a collection of stories, carols and activities. I hope you all enjoy these stories.
