Ms. Molly’s Kinder Kammer group has had a great time preparing playdough for our upcoming school picnic. They enjoyed it so much that they wanted to share the recipe with the VFKH community, so that this great activity can be done at home. VFKH learned this recipe from one of our wonderful past teachers, and has been using it for close to 30 years!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of flour
- 1.5 cups of salt
- 6 tsp of cream of tartar
- 3 cups of water
- 3 tbsp of oil
- food dye
Directions:
In a 3-qt saucepan mix all the dry ingedients. Add in the wet ingredients. It will be a little lumpy. Cook over medium heat, stirring from the bottom. Keep lifting and turning up from the bottom until it is just too thick and lumpy to stir any longer. Cool and knead for 5 minutes.
Note: Food coloring is easier to add before cooking.
