We recently read a book about Abraham Lincoln and how he became a lawyer and then a president. One of the funny stories told from History is that Abraham Lincoln wasn’t a very orderly man in his office when he first started being a lawyer and how all of his disorganization created a situation that at times dismayed his clients. So he bought a tall black top hat to help him look more distinguished and decided to put his more important papers for his clients in his hat to help him find them when he needed them. The children enjoyed this story and talked about whether or not they thought this story could be true or not and their reasons why. If you would like to read this book you can look for the title “Abe Lincoln’s Hat” by Martha Brenner.
