The children have been discussing the season of Autumn and how we all need to change things to prepare for the new weather patterns coming our way. One of the topics of interest is changing our summer clothes into our warmer winter clothes. We are now going to need raincoats, boots, jackets or heavier coats, hats, sweaters, mittens or gloves, scarves, long pants and of course snow pants once the snow arrives (which is not soon enough for the children).
A unique experience in the classroom that the children work on each year are the dressing frame fasteners. A few examples are: zippers, buttons and laces. The younger students are guided by the older students through these skills. The children also take the opportunity to help each other when getting ready for outdoor play. To help your child feel more confident in doing these tasks themselves I would greatly suggest you work together with them at home on building these skills.
